Carpenter Road at Willis Road Intersection Improvement Project

Sealed bid proposals will be received by the Washtenaw County Road Commission at the Administration Building Main Reception Desk, 555 North Zeeb Road, Ann Arbor, Michigan, until 11 a.m. Local Time, Tuesday, June 1, 2010 at which time they will be publicly opened and read for constructing the following:

  • CARPENTER ROAD AT WILLIS ROAD INTERSECTION IMPROVEMENT PROJECT

This project is located in sections 1, 2, 11, and 12 of York Township, Washtenaw County.  The project consists of Hot Mix Asphalt (HMA) widening and reconstruction, HMA crushing and shaping, concrete curb and gutter, aggregate base and shoulders, storm sewer, drainage construction, sign installation, guardrail, pavement marking, traffic signal installation, and slope restoration.  The total distance of the intersection improvement project is 0.42 miles.

Proposals, plans, bid forms, and other information will be available starting May 5, 2010 at Dunn Blue Reprographics, 2813 Boardwalk, Ann Arbor, MI 48104, (734) 663-2471 (www.dunnblue.com).

A certified check or bidder’s bond in the sum of not less than five (5%) of the base bid price is required by the instructions to bidders. Bids shall be completed on the provided form(s).

Bids shall be signed by an authorized agent of the bidder, and submitted in a sealed envelope that is plainly marked on the outside as to the contents.  Bids failing to meet these requirements will not be considered.  Bids cannot be submitted by telephone or fax.

Prospective bidders shall confirm to the Michigan Department of Transportation prequalification requirements.  Net classification required for this project is Cb or Ea.  All subcontractors shall be required to meet the prequalification class of the particular items that they will be working on as part of this project.

The WCRC, in accordance with Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, 78 Stat. 252, 42 USC 2000d to 200d-4 and Title 49, Code of Federal Regulations, Department of Federally assisted programs of the Department of Transportation issued pursuant to such Act, hereby notifies all bidders that it will affirmatively insure that in any contract entered into pursuant to this advertisement, minority business enterprises will be afforded full opportunity to submit bids in response to this invitation and will not be discriminated against on the grounds of gender, disability, race, color, or national origin in consideration for an award.

The Board reserves the right to reject any or all bids or any part of the same; to waive irregularities and/or informalities and to make the award in part or entirety as may appear to be in the best interest of the County of Washtenaw.
