Staff in the Permits Section are responsible for processing a wide range of permits, including permits for driveways, road approaches, utilities and oversize loads and vehicles. This extensive process includes the review of permit applications and plans submitted by property owners, truckers, developers, public utility companies, and local units of government, as well as issuance of permits and on-site inspections.

Operations within the county road right-of-way other than normal vehicular or pedestrian travel require a permit when conducted by anyone other than WCRC personnel, agents, or contractors. The statutory authority of the WCRC to require compliance with permit requirements is predicated upon its jurisdictional authority and is set forth in various statutes.
