Background

The Road Commission imposed the closure of the Liberty Road Short-Span Bridge on July 10, 2007, due to the severe deterioration and failure of the abutments (foundations). The closure was imposed immediately upon the completion of a routine bridge inspection, which takes place every two years.  No additional historical information is available on this bridge.

This bridge is expected to be replaced during the 2008 construction season.  Estimated cost to replace the Liberty Road Bridge is $250,000, which will be paid entirely by the Road Commission.
