Willow Road Culvert
-
General Information The Willow Road Culvert over the Saline and Bridgewater Drains is located between Michigan Avenue (US-12) and Case Road in Sections 19 and 30 of Saline Township. The original structure (circa 1950s/60s) was also a culvert; it was replaced with an 84-inch diameter x 70-foot corrugated steel culvert in September 2007 by the Washtenaw County Road Commission.
Background
On July 18, 2007, the Washtenaw County Road Commission CLOSED a segment of Willow Road upon the completion of routine bridge and culvert inspections, of which one was the Willow Road Culvert. These bridge and culvert inspections take place every two years. This culvert, located on Willow Road between Michigan Avenue (US-12) and Case Road, carries water from the Saline and Bridgewater drains. The closure was imposed by the Road Commission due to the failed condition of this large culvert. (Read more about this culvert closure)
