October 7, 2020
Good Afternoon,
It has been another interesting week on the coronavirus front. The Michigan Department of Health and Human Services and the Washtenaw County Health Department have issued new public health orders restoring many of the safety precautions brought into question by the Michigan Supreme Court’s ruling last Friday.
So, what does that mean for us? As I shared on Monday, we will continue to follow our current procedures. We have also updated our Face Covering and Mask Protocol to reflect updated recommendations from the CDC and the county.
The most relevant updates to this protocol include:
- Bandanas and handkerchiefs are no longer recommended as face coverings since they do not fit snugly to the face
- The effectiveness of balaclavas (face gaiters) as face coverings is unknown at this time. If you choose to wear this as your face covering, it should be doubled up, per CDC guidance, to create two layers of fabric covering your mouth and nose.
With these new recommendations in mind, we are working to order additional cloth face coverings. We hope to have these face coverings available for employees by-request soon. If you are interested, please contact your supervisor.
I know more uncertainty is the last thing we want right now, but I also know we will work through this, just like we have every day since March.
As always, if you have any questions, please contact your supervisor, HR or me.
Have a safe rest of the week,
Sheryl
P.S. Here are some helpful hints from the CDC, which I think we can all agree upon:
