Good morning,
And just like that, we are nearly halfway through the month of June! This week, our operations crews continued chip seal operations throughout the county. Crews also performed a few unpaved road resurfacing projects on both Weber Rd and Alber Rd in Lodi Township. On Monday, the intersection of N. Territorial Rd & Dexter Town Hall Rd in Dexter Township was re-opened to all traffic. Our resurfacing project on Huron River Dr in Ypsilanti Township is nearly complete, and construction will begin tomorrow for the Schneider Rd Resurfacing project in Bridgewater & Freedom Townships. Construction is on-going for the roundabout installation at Whittaker Rd and Willis Rd in Augusta Township, as well as for the safety improvement project at N. Territorial Rd & Webster Church Rd in Webster Township.
As our construction season continues and motorists begin to travel for the summer, I want to remind our staff about staying vigilant when performing your duties and the importance of keeping safety at the forefront. So often, our focus is concentrated on the work being accomplished, making it easy to become complacent in a work zone or about a job task. During the summer months, Michiganders travel more frequently throughout the state, meaning more motorists in our work zones. Please remember to keep your head on a swivel and watch out for one another!
Additionally, next week’s weather forecast is looking extremely hot (upwards of 90 degrees). Please remember that during hot weather heatstroke’s are more likely to occur. Watch out for symptoms such as heat rashes or cramps, dizziness or nausea, and extremely high body temperature. A few ways we can prevent over heating is by staying hydrated, eating healthy, taking breaks, and watching out for others.
Have a safe rest of the week and weekend!
Matt
