Our safety improvement project at the intersection of N. Territorial Rd & Webster Church Rd in Webster Township is almost complete!
Beginning Tuesday, July 23, 2024, the new traffic signal is fully functional at the intersection of N. Territorial Rd & Webster Church Rd. Since the last update, the contractor has placed all the new traffic signs along N. Territorial Rd between Mast Rd and Webster Church Rd. Motorists will still see construction workers complete a few punch list items in the next few weeks. However, this work will have minimal traffic impacts and the intersection will be open to traffic.

Our safety improvement project at the intersection of N. Territorial Rd & Webster Church Rd in Webster Township is nearly complete!
Since the last update, the contractor has been able to complete paving operations throughout the project limits, place aggregate (stone) shoulders, and pavement markings. The intersection was re-opened to traffic on Tuesday, July 2, 2024.
The new traffic signal at the intersection is not yet operational and additional work is still being performed. WCRC crews will finalize the new traffic signal in the coming weeks under lane restrictions. WCRC expects the signal to be fully operational by July 22. Additionally, the contractor will return to the area to finish placing new signs along N. Territorial Rd between Mast Rd and Webster Church Rd. However, this work will be completed under traffic restrictions.

WHY: Completion of road improvement project
BACKGROUND: On Tuesday, July 2, 2024, the Washtenaw County Road Commission (WCRC) re-opened Webster Church Rd, north and south of the N. Territorial Rd intersection in Webster Township.

Heads up Webster Township – our safety improvement project at the intersection of N. Territorial Rd and Webster Church Rd in Webster Township is almost complete!
Currently, the Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) contractor is working to complete asphalt paving operations. The next steps will include placing aggregate (stone) shoulders and pavement markings. Once these tasks are complete, the intersection will re-open to traffic.
While the intersection is expected to re-open soon, residents should be aware that the new traffic signal has not been installed yet and more work will be performed near the intersection. WCRC crews will install the new traffic signal in the coming weeks under lane restrictions. Additionally, the contractor will return to the area to place new signs along N. Territorial Rd between Mast Rd and Webster Church Rd. However, this work will not impact traffic.

We’re paving our safety project taking place at the intersection of N. Territorial Rd & Webster Church Rd in Webster Township!
Since the last update, the contractor placed the aggregate (stone) road base and paved two courses (layers) of asphalt on the southern side of the project limits. Currently, the contractor is working on ditching and placing the aggregate base for the curb and gutter on the north side of the project limits. The next step is to prepare for the traffic shift on N. Territorial Rd. Motorists should expect the north side lane to shift onto the (new) south side lane, with the same temporary traffic control signals in place, within the next week.

Since the last update, the contractor has been able to install the concrete curb and gutter. Currently, the contractor is working to place the aggregate (stone) road base of the roadway. Next comes asphalt paving.

Territorial Rd at the intersection of Webster Church Rd is being maintained with a temporary traffic signal. Over the past week, the contactor has been able to make good progress working on the southern half of the intersection. They have removed the existing asphalt and have installed most of the drainage structures, culverts, and the storm sewer. Next steps are prepping and installing the concrete curb and gutter and placing the aggregate (stone) road base.

WHY: Safety improvement project
BACKGROUND: On Monday, April 15, 2024, the Washtenaw County Road Commission (WCRC) will begin a safety improvement project on N. Territorial Rd, east and west of the Webster Church Rd intersection, in Webster Township.
The road will not be closed to traffic, but delays are likely due to lane closures. Traffic on N. Territorial Rd will be maintained using a temporary traffic signal. WCRC encourages motorists, emergency services and others to use an alternate route.
The intersection improvements are expected to take approximately seven weeks. However, all dates are tentative and subject to change due to weather conditions.

Heads up Webster Township! Our safety project on N. Territorial Rd and Webster Church Rd will resume Monday, October 16, 2023.
The Washtenaw County Road Commission (WCRC) will close N. Territorial Rd between N. Meadows Tr and Donovan Rd to replace two crossroad culverts over tributaries to Arms Creek. WCRC will maintain access only for residents who live, work or own property within the closure limits. However, please be advised that no traffic will be able to travel across the culvert location during construction.
The remaining work for the N. Territorial and Webster Church Rd safety project is tentatively scheduled to resume Spring 2024. WCRC will continue to send out updates as the project progresses.

BACKGROUND: On Monday, October 16, 2023, the Washtenaw County Road Commission (WCRC) will close N. Territorial Rd between Meadows Tr and Donovan Rd in Webster Township to begin replacing two culverts.
During construction, N. Territorial Rd between Meadows Tr and Donovan Rd will be closed to all traffic for approximately 1 week. However, all dates are tentative and subject to change due to weather conditions.
WCRC will maintain access to residents who live, work or own property within the project limits.

Heads up Webster Township! Our Safety Improvement project on N. Territorial Rd at the intersection of Webster Church Rd has been delayed due to the plan review process by the Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT). The intersection work is now expected to take place during the 2024 construction season.
However, the culvert replacements on N. Territorial Rd between Mast Rd and Donovan Rd are expected to take place during the fall of 2023. The Washtenaw County Road Commission (WCRC) will send out updates as the project, and related work, progresses.

During the 2023 construction season, WCRC is planning to install left turn lanes and a traffic signal at the intersection of N. Territorial Rd and Webster Church Rd. Centerline rumble strips, as well as safety signage and pavement markings will be placed on N. Territorial Rd between Mast Rd and Webster Church Rd, and two culverts will be replaced on N. Territorial Rd between Meadows Tr and Donovan Rd. During construction, Webster Church Rd will be closed to ALL traffic, north and south of the intersection for approximately 12 weeks.
